Hi Roy... we seem to have ALDIs popping up all over Charlotte these days, although I can't say shop there very often.

Someone told us we have an Aldi in Ventura County (next to us).  I know that they are on the bulk side of sales, we don't buy a lot of bulk.  Enjoy the visit if you are going.  A

You have a false impression. ALDI is not a bulk sales store. Think more of a budget version of Trader Joe's.

Hello Roy - when the time is conducive to "visiting" stores for curiosity, I would like to check out ALDI to take a look.  In the meantime, that's not a part of my shopping list which is more focused and task-driven.  Welcome, ALDI to Montgomery Village.

Morning Roy.

When our local Aldi's opened the prices at our local WalMart dropped like a rock.  Competition is a good thing

Roy, what is Aldis?   Reading James' comment, maybe a grocery store?   Probably a good thing to charge a quarter for the carts, we find them into neighborhoods.

The popular discount grocery store has locations in 35 states, a region that covers the eastern half of the country.

Hi Roy:

Good information for area residents who are no doubt pleased about the opening. I've never been in one but we have several in our area.

Customers Line Up at Aldi in Montgomery Village for Opening Day
If you didn’t know how important it was to bring a grocery store back into the Montgomery Village Shopping Center, the fact that customers lined up prior to the 8am for opening day at Aldi might be very telling.
Shoppers eagerly anticipated the opening, lining up as early as 7am (with social distancing) for just a simple opening– there are no specials or deals available.
The shopping center was home to Giant for many years before it closed back in September of 2010. A few months later Global, an international grocery store, took over and lasted nearly a decade before closing in 2019.
In the first half of 2021, Lidl is expected to arrive across the street from the shopping center at the old professional center site on Montgomery Village and Centerway.
