Maryland Blogger: Guidelines for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at Home

Guidelines for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at Home

Guidelines for Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at Home

Montgomery County, Maryland has released its first ever guidelines for installing electric vehicle charging stations at home. The guidelines address privately owned car charging stations in garages, driveways and the public right of way adjacent to County streets.

Montgomery County residents and businesses own an estimated 5,400 electric vehicles and 3,500 plug-in hybrids. Nearly 40 percent of all electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles in Maryland are located within Montgomery County. The Maryland Department of the Environment’s Zero Emission Vehicles Program has set a goal of having 60,000 zero emission vehicles in the State by 2020 and 300,000 by 2025.

This blog was not posted at the scheduled time. Sadly, the scheduling feature is not working. This is discouraging for me since I have been scheduling most of my reblogs and blogs in advance.

Good morning Roy. We are seeing more electric vehicles in Chicago or should I say we did when we were open for business. Enjoy your day!

You gotta love Montgomery County - they set goals and guidelines - I wonder if the guidelines will be a disincentive to achieving the goals!

Roy Kelley good morning, Roy... can't say I've heard of anything like this being disseminated here in my regional counties. Good for Montgomery County!

Very good message Roy. On a side note, yes the scheduling feature does not seem to be working for the ast 2 days. I usually have a draft and it goes out every morning at the same time. Not today or yesterday...grrrr

I have to say that owning an electric vehicle has been one of the best experiences of my life, I will never buy a gas-powered vehicle again.

Roy, I have one client with a Tesla, and he had installed the charging station in his home, and then when they sold, their new home already had Solar panels (by Tesla), so it was easy to install the station, with a discount.

We are seeing more electric vehicle charging stations in homes here in Sacramento.  In fact my neighbor across the street, had his home burn down a couple years ago.  It is completely rebuilt now.  He told me that the County of Sacramento required that he install a charging system as part of his his rebuild.  He doesn't own an electric car!

HI Roy Kelley -We had an elderly neighbor get hit by an electric car because He could not hear it coming and obviously the driver was not paying attention. Not a fan of electric vehicles as a pedestrian. You can not hear them!
