Proposed Amazon Distribution Center in Gaithersburg, Maryland

Amazon has proposed a $92,000,000 distribution center on the 44 acre site at the corner of Interstate 270 and Montgomery Village Avenue in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The site was formerly occupied by IBM and Leidos. The location is next to the FedEx distribution center. This facility would create about 850 new jobs.

Good morning, Roy... Charlotte's first Amazon robotics distribution center opened last September. It was a big deal for the Queen City.

Hello Roy - a nearly one hundred million dollar investment seems unbelievable but such "news" seems almost "common" in some aspects of business.   An interesting shift.

Big money controls the world nowadays and Amazon certainly is big money.  From what I have heard the owner is making out like a bandit, but employees not so much.

Good afternoon  Roy Kelley -  that is lucky for your area.  Amazon was supposed to come to NY but were driven away.

As shopping malls disappear across America, they seem to be replaced in number by an equal number of Amazon distribution centers.  But, they aren't usually as pretty as most shopping malls.  Perhaps, they could fix that in their design.

Morning Roy.

Let's hope it happens, I'm sure Gaithersburg could use the jobs that would be gained.
