Gaithersburg Police Department Offers "Neighbors" Video Sharing App

The Gaithersburg Police Department is partnering with "Neighbors," a video-sharing app, to provide residents with easy access to shared videos, photos and other safety information. Doorbell camera company Ring hosts the "Neighbors" network. Anyone can download the app to monitor neighborhood activity, share crime and safety-related videos, photos and text-based posts, and get real time safety alerts from neighbors and the police. The network does NOT allow the police to access Ring cameras directly. The police can only view what a camera owner chooses to share via the app.

You don't have to own a Ring product to participate. Learn more here.

Good morning Roy. Have to give this one some thought although the program has benefits. Enjoy your day!

I think this is great and hopefully will deter the bad guys from doing bad things in your area.

Roy, my Ring doorbell shows other videos of issues close by too.   Nice to know what is happening around us.

Hi Roy,

When the Police are involved with the safety of the people in their community, it is a really good thing and an asset to people thinking about moving to your area. Safety is always on other people's minds.

I belong to NextDoor, the neighbor ap.  I'm often surprised at the quality that Ring doorbells provide in image quality.
