October is Fire Safety Month

October is Fire Safety Month, giving us a chance to not only thank the Fire Inspectors and First Responders who keep us safe, but to remind ourselves about smoke alarm laws that took effect on January 1, 2018. All smoke alarms, both battery operated and hard wired, MUST be replaced ten years past the date of manufacture. Also, all battery-only smoke alarms must be replaced with "Ten Year Sealed Battery Smoke Alarms." Click here for a handy diagram to help you place smoke alarms in your home for maximum effect.

Currently, here in Northern California, PG&E has warned as many as 800,000 homes could be without power because of a windstorm slated to arrive at midnight or so.  Several counties are involved, and the shutoff is to try and avert any wildfires they may cause with power lines being the culprit.

Hi Roy... great PSA. I don't know that Charlotte requires that smoke alarms be replaced every 10 years.
