I can see why it did generate a lot of interest. It's beautiful.  We have a clump of coneflowers in one of our gardens that is similar to that color...I just love it.

I had to run out to the garden and snap a quick pic with my cell phone.  It's Echinacea Green Jewel and it's deer resistant and has a long bloom season, it's been going strong since June.

That is an interesting color for your coneflowers. The season has almost ended for the coneflowers in our home garden.
