Favorite Crab Cake Recipe from Dolores Kelley

One of my sisters, Lynne Kelley, asked Chef Dolores for a crab cake recipe. Her favorite is the recipe from the Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club in Virginia Beach, VA. We were members of that club when we lived in Virginia Beach. This is a good recipe to share.

Cavalier Golf and Yacht Club Crab Cake Recipe

1 pound Backfin Crab (preferably Chesapeake Bay Crab not imported crab meat)

2 slices white bread

1 egg

2 dashes of Tabasco Sauce

2 dashes of Worcestershire sauce

1 Tbsp. Mayonnaise

juice of 1/4 lemon

salt and pepper

Mix egg, Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce and lemon.

Cut crust from bread and cut  bread into 1/4" inch cubes.

Fold bread gently with crab and mayonnaise.

Add wet ingredients.

Mix and shape into 4 mounds.

Placed on greased cookie sheet.

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes or until brown.

Enjoy!

I would certainly try these, I haven't had many crab cakes that I thought were delicious, but then again, I am in Arizona, haha.

Roy,

What a wonderful recipe, we both love crab cakes...now to get some Chesapeake Bay Crab?  The only fresh I can get is from Louisiana.  A

Hi Roy Kelley,

One of my favorites!  I wonder if that crab meat is considered imported when sent to Arizona!

I love crab cakes but don't have them very often. The recipe sounds delicious.  I'm going to give it a try.

Hi Roy Kelley,   our Family has been in the restaurant field for years;  always heard the Crab Cakes from your region - Maryland/Virginia - were the 'best in the world.'  Thank you Dolores and Roy Kelley.

Have not had crab cakes in ages. Miss them. Wonder if there is a way to make them without the bread?
