School Supplies Donations Needed in Gaithersburg, Maryland

Help support local students and educators by donating new school supplies. Among the most needed items are backpacks, glue sticks, crayons, index cards, loose-leaf paper, highlighters, and card stock. A complete list is available here. Cash donations are also welcome.

The City's Educational Enrichment Committee is working with the Gaithersburg Youth Club, the Student Union and other local businesses and organizations to make sure the new school year gets off to the right start. Donations can be dropped off at the Olde Towne Youth Center and the Activity Center at Bohrer Park through August 31.

Hello Roy - it's a shame that these types of efforts are needed each year as students return to school.  It's good to see how generous people can be but unfortunate that the need exists.

Roy, great post, and a reminder not every family have the money it takes to buy school supplies.

These kinds of donations are very helpful to families who struggle to supply them for their children.

Hi Roy- This is the power of our communities, that pitch in to help others. Our local grocery store supports school supply donations.

Hi Roy... school supply drives are blanketing the Charlotte area... one in two Mecklenburg County children has no or few school supplies with which to start the school year. I find that statistic mind-boggling! Here's wishing Gaithersburg a most successful drive. Hopefully all residents will support this important cause.

Our local real estate association...and appropriately, the Dollar Tree store which has LOTS of school supplies are participating in these types of drives and we contribute to both.
