Safety Patrol Leadership Camp 2019 for Incoming Fifth Grade

June 24 – 28 and July 15 – 19

The Officers of the Montgomery County Police, School Safety Unit would like to extend an invitation to incoming Fifth Grade Safety Patrols to attend Safety Patrol Leadership Camp. The camp is a 5 day/4-night residential camp located at Summit Lake in Emmitsburg, Maryland.

The purpose of the camp is two-fold: 1) to become trained in the proper techniques needed to be an effective Safety Patrol, and 2) to have fun in the camp environment by making new friends and enjoying the activities provided. Camp brochures were disseminated to all Patrol Teachers Sponsors in February for distribution to perspective Safety Patrols.

Space is limited so register early. On line registration began on March 11 and additional information is available on the website:

Hi Roy - this is a wonderful opportunity for elementary school safety patrol leadership to learn new skills and perhaps more importantly develop camaraderie with other members as well as have fun.

Love it when leadership is thought at an early age, Endre

Well that is awesome, my granddaughters were both in safety patrol here in TN but they did not have a camp.  Sounds like a great idea for 5th graders.  Thanks for sharing!

Ah Fifth Grade and Safety Patrol.  One of my young life regrets was that I was never selected to be on the Patrol.  I always wondered why until many years later.  When I happened to bump into the teacher who had the responsibility of hand picking students for those positions.  I turned out that he feared traffic wouldn't see me because of my size.  Back then I was considerably shorter and smaller than most of my classmates.  I caught up to them later though.
