I finally finished shoveling snow today. The winter storm lingered over our area longer than expected and it resulted in much additional snow. Schools and many offices are closed today.

I posted this photograph in some Facebook groups today and decided to post it in a blog.

Subhash Sharma  "This yellow hibiscus has been the state flower of Hawaii for nearly 30 years.Yellow hibiscus (Hibiscus brackenridgei) is a flowering shrub that grows on all the Hawaiian islands except Ni'ihau and Kaho'olawe. All three subspecies of the yellow hibiscus are listed as endangered species. Even in Hawaii, the plant is rare. The territory of Hawaii named the hibiscus the official flower of Hawaii in 1923, but it did not specify an individual variety. A number of Hawaiian citizens considered the native red or Chinese red hibiscus the official flower until Hawaii’s Legislature declared the yellow hibiscus the state flower in 1988."

Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend who lives in Ireland. He frequently comments on my photographs on Facebook.

That's a beautiful shade of yellow.  My dad was very fond of yellow flowers.  He especially liked yellow Canna Lilies.  That blossom reminds me of him.

Good morning Roy.  I used to enjoy shoveling snow when I lived up north.  I'm also enjoying not having to do that down here in Florida.

Roy Kelley, I have been to Hawaii many times; in fact lived on Waikiki for 2 years and also on the Pearl Harbor Navy base, Halemoku.  Oh yes, I do remember all the beautiful HIBISCUS.
