FHA Certification Assistance in Gaithersburg, Maryland

With condominiums becoming an increasingly popular housing choice for people of all ages, it's important that condo associations be approved by the Federal Housing Administration (FHA). Approval helps make possible loans for first time homebuyers, reverse mortgages for older adults, and makes the process easier for unit owners looking to sell. But the approval process can be laborious and costly.

The City of Gaithersburg Housing Initiatives Fund connects condo associations with an experienced consultant who can help prepare and file the appropriate paperwork. The City even pays the full cost of the process. For more information on this program contact the Housing & Community Development Division at 240-805-1119. Click here for information on other housing initiatives.

This is a City of Gaithersburg announcement.

I'm wondering if the government shutdown is affecting that process currently?

Roy, FHA is a popular loan for first time buyers, and many condo projects are not FHA approved.

Roy, Not every condo community is FHA approved so buyers need to ask their Real Estate Agent to confirm the unit they are interested in is approved for that type of loan.
