Maryland Blogger: Sandpiper Ornament on our Christmas Tree

Sandpiper Ornament on our Christmas Tree

Sandpiper Ornament on our Christmas Tree

I was asked about the Sandpiper ornament on our Christmas tree. Long ago, Chef Dolores attended Old Dominion University to complete her art history degree. In those days, we had CB (Citizens Band) radios in our vehicles. It was before the times of cell phones.

Dolores belonged to a CB club and attended monthly meetings with fellow commuters. Her CB handle was Sandpiper and one of her friends in the CB club made this ornament for her as a Christmas gift. Every ornament has a story.

Dear Roy,

Very cute handle. Never had CB myself, but know a lot of people, who do.

HI Roy Kelley - Boy does that bring back memories.  My husband used his CB to work his way from Chino CA to Los Angeles. He would talk to others to find the fastest way to work and back.

Cute backstory on the ornament, Roy.  My CB handle was Kaibab.

Hi Roy.  Brings back memories of playing with frequency boosters to get better range on those radios.

Now that is a truly personal ornament with lots of meaning behind it, Roy. Also loved the one you pictured with the Russian Orthodox cross.

I was expecting an photo of some exotic looking bird, Roy.  "Sandpiper" is a great CB handle.
