Maryland Blogger: Take a walk before your home purchase

Take a walk before your home purchase

Take a walk before your home purchase

We like to advise home buyer clients to take walks through the neighborhoods they are considering for their home purchase.  It is a good way to see what is offered in the area. We live in an ideal community in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, DC.  Gaithersburg is an unusual city in that it is in sound financial condition and the city provides high quality services to the residents.

Our Kentlands neighborhood has a neo-traditional design that is ideal for walking.  Lighted sidewalks line both sides of the streets and the homes and gardens are lovely.  Shopping and great restaurants are within easy walking distances.  You can understand why I enjoy walks through Kentlands and the adjacent community of Lakelands.

Always have your camera in hand to capture the special moments that you will wish to share. Enjoy the holiday season!

Those are beautiful photos!

And yes, homebuyers should walk/visit neighborhoods before they buy. Good suggestion!

Loved all the pictures you posted of wreaths, Roy. I love wreaths and change them seasonally on my own door. And no doubt, Kentlands is a lovely community... one I'd look at very closely if I were to live in the area.

That's what I always advise the buyers to do every home they bring to my attention to make sure they are sold on the neighborhood

By the look of those wreaths, I would say that it is likely a very nice neighborhood to live within.

Roy, your neighborhood IS beautiful, and I did walk my neighborhood prior to writing on it.  It is a good idea to get a better feel for the area.

This is excellent advice, Roy.  Something I always tell my clients who are not familiar with the area.

You are offering such good advice. You really can get a good feel for a neighborhood with a walk.  Love the photos - you sure live in a festive neighborhood..what fun.

Roy,

This is wonderful advice, and we have always done that.  In our case we had a home in the county of Napa, (no sidewalks), so we took a drive.  A

Taking a walk is excellent advice, Roy!  When I grew up, I was in a neighborhood, that had a small thriving business district with cafes, stores, a library, banks, and my school, all within a two block radius of home.  I'd love to live that way once again.

Great advice at any time of year.   Week-ends and late afternoons are good times as you will likely find neighbors to chat up.
