Chef Dolores and I visited the new Guinness Open Gate Brewery and Barrel House in Halethorpe, Maryland, just south of Baltimore. We had not been there since visiting the temporary tap room during the summer.

The is the place to go to sample their experimental beers. We sampled six different selections and they were all outstanding. Dolores' favorite was the Guinness Antwerpen Stout Aged in Bulleit Bourbon Barrels, 10% Alc. by Vol. My favorite was the Guinness Barleywine, 9% Alc. by Vol.

We will need to try their new restaurant during our next visit. If you are a beer lover, this is now a mandatory travel destination in Maryland. Click on the above link to visit the website and plan your visit.

Sounds like a fun field trip one that both residents and tourists would enjoy.

Good morning Roy.  Looks like a great place to visit and enjoy some Guinness.

Good morning, Roy... you must know more about beer than just about anyone I know. Charlotte is quite the "beer capital" but I know nothing about the places, as I don't drink beer.

Good morning Roy. They just published a report that Chicago and surrounding suburbs have the most micro-breweries in the US with the number at 162. Going to have to start touring! Enjoy your beer!

Roy, this does sound right up your alley.  I tried Guiness while visiting Ireland, and not a beer drinker.

What a nice addition to your area. I would love to visit this place. Bernie would be especially excited to sample their beers. We will look for your review of the restaurant. D

That sounds like a fun place to visit Roy. I would love to eat at their restaurant as they probably use their beers in their food and it likely pairs well with their beers. I will have to remember that if I make it to Maryland.

Breweries and brew houses are quickly catching up to the number of wineries around the country.  Who would have thunk it!
