Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, Maryland is one of the popular travel destinations for visitors in the DC Metro Area.

Subhash Sharma  "These exquisite looking chrysanthemum flowers have a Chinese origin where the flower was first cultivated by the Chinese more than 2500 years ago. Its name is also a Chinese word, derived from "Chu hua" meaning "October flower. Used initially as a herb, the chrysanthemum was first exhibited in England in 1795. As with many flowers, the Greek language comes into play with the naming of the Chrysanthemum. The name is believed to derive from "chrysos" meaning gold, and "anthos" meaning flower."

Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend from India. He now lives in Ireland and frequently comments on my photographs as I post them on Facebook.

What an unusual and pretty picture of crysanthemums, Roy. Don't think I've ever looked at any quite that "closely."

What a gorgeous shot of a Chrysanthemum, Roy! I never knew the origin of the word but, it makes total sense now that you've spelled it out for us!

Happy Sunday!
