City of Gaithersburg, Maryland Winter Weather Reminders

With the first snowstorm of the season in the books, it appears that winter weather has officially arrived. Prepare now and visit our Snow Removal page on the City's website for insights into dealing with winter weather.

Service Requests
Please direct any and all snow-related concerns to snow@gaithersburgmd.gov. During significant storms this e-mail box will be monitored by Public Works personnel. Having a single place for all comments, suggestions and concerns (compliments welcome, too!) will help us address issues more efficiently. Stay on top of developments by regularly visiting our website and following us on Facebook and Twitter.

Who Maintains Your Road?
Having a Gaithersburg mailing address doesn't necessarily mean you live within our corporate boundaries. Click here to see if you do. Also, many roads within our boundaries are maintained by Montgomery County or the State of Maryland. To find out who maintains your road and how to contact them, click here.

Snow Emergency Routes
Cars parked on Snow Emergency Routes during declared Snow Emergencies are subject to ticketing and towing. We try to announce the Snow Emergency as far in advance as practical, allowing residents time to move their vehicles before it takes effect. Move your car to allow for more effective snow      plowing.

There is a lot more information on our Snow Removal page, including road priorities, tips for effective shoveling, requirements for snow removal from sidewalks, and winter weather preparedness advice. Get ready. Winter's coming!

Good morning Roy. Chicago's snoe route parking ban went into effect last evening. I suspect many will be missing their cars this morning. Enjoy your day!

Timely message Roy. I'm one of the weirdos in life who wishes we got more snow. Ha. Especially during the holiday season.

As you plan your weekend activities, give yourself plenty of time. When we're in a rush we forget to follow important safety practices. For busy shoppers, remember both drivers & pedestrians need to keep heads up in parking lots. Tips:

I believe we are in for a severe winter. We had temps down to 20. Is yours expected to be bad?

On your mark, get set, go...that's how many feel this seaon. Juggling to get things done & be where we need to be. Don't let yourself be a distracted driver or pedestrian. Give full time and attention when driving & walking. See tips at:
