Nationwide Emergency Alert Test Postponed Until October 3

FEMA and the FCC have postponed the September 20, 2018 nationwide test of two emergency alerting systems, the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA), due to ongoing response efforts to Hurricane Florence. The tests will now take place on October 3 beginning at 2:18 and 2:20 p.m. EDT. Cell phones and mobile devices that are switched on, are within range of an active cell tower, and whose wireless carrier participates should receive a message (accompanied by a loud noise) that reads: "Presidential Alert: THIS IS A TEST of the National Wireless Emergency Alert System. No action is needed."

I heard a little about this, a couple days ago.  It was the first I had heard of it!

Good afternoon Roy - I would think that FEMA is way too busy now for a test.

We have all been influenced in one way or another by Hurricane Florence and the aftermath. I logged on today and Google is asking for donations to match.

Thanks for the info, Roy.  I have mixed feelings about getting an alert from this president.
