I first saw Halloween stuff in stores here in Charlotte at end of July and just closed my eyes to it. But I suppose for a pop-up store, a mid-September opening is just about right.

The Spirit Halloween store will be a great place to stock up on Halloween related items.

Hey Roy, so sorry we weren't able to visit when we were in Maryland last week. The wedding festivities were non-stop - we did talk about you though and both wish we'd been able to sneak away. Next time. D

Soon all the little ghosts and goblins will be running the streets looking for candy, haha.

Standing Water/Mosquitoes

While we are all anxious for the heat and humidity to give way to cool Fall days, please remember that mosquitoes don't disappear until the temps drop below 50 degrees for an extended period of time. They can breed in standing water in something as small as a bottle cap, so that spare bucket, unused flower pots or other receptacles with still water are breeding grounds. After it rains, dump all containers in your yard that have water in them. West Nile has reached Northern Virginia. Do we really need that in MoCo? Let's dump the standing water and stop the massive mosquito population. They're bad for you, your kids and your pets. If you MUST have standing water for some reason, buy some Dunks at Lowe's or Home Depot. They're safe for humans, pets, fish, birds & everything else except mosquitoes.

Roy,

Glad to year that Florence had not had a big effect on you, and I think it is too early for Halloween, but what do I know?  LOL

I passed by our Spirit Halloween store today and there were lots of cars. People really get into the Halloween spirit. Yours should do well too.
