Maryland Sales Tax-Free Shopping Week

Maryland Sales Tax-Free Shopping Week

The 2018 Shop Maryland Tax-Free Week runs from Sunday, Aug. 12, through Saturday, Aug. 18. Qualifying clothing and footwear sold for $100 or less, per item, is exempt from the 6 percent state sales tax. Accessory items are not included, with the exception of backpacks, a staple of student life; the first $40 toward the cost of a backpack or book bag is also tax-free.

Click here to view a detailed list of what is taxable and what is exempt from Maryland's sales tax that week.

Subhash Sharma  "These Hydrangea (or Hortensia) flowers come from a genus of 70–75 species of flowering plants native to southern and eastern Asia (China, Japan, Korea, the Himalayas, and Indonesia) and the Americas. By far the greatest species diversity is in eastern Asia, notably China, Japan, and Korea. Most are shrubs 1 to 3 meters tall, but some are small trees, and others lianas reaching up to 30 m by climbing up trees. They can be either deciduous or evergreen, though the widely cultivated temperate species are all deciduous. Having been introduced to the Azores, H. macrophylla is now very common, particularly on Faial, which is known as the "Blue Island" due to the vast number of hydrangeas present on the island. In most species the flowers are white, but in some species (notably H. macrophylla), can be blue, red, pink, light purple, or dark purple. In these species the colour is affected by the presence of aluminium ions which are available or tied up depending upon thesoil pH."

Hi Roy... North Carolina stopped its tax free back to school shopping a few years ago. Now everyone just drives over the border into South Carolina. I was just thinking the other day I need to look up when SC has its weekend this year.

Roy, I see a few states doing this, and sure wish Colorado did.  Would help those families buying school supplies.

It's a wonderful gesture. Parents need all the help they can get when it comes to Back to School shopping and expenses. It sure all adds up. D

What a nice gesture the State of Maryland is offering.  I am sure the parents who are buying their kids back to school stuff appreciate it. A

This is such a help for families that have school age children. Our tax-free weekend is this weekend and I am going to buy another laptop and save the sales tax.
