Garden Docent Training Program

Garden docents lead regularly-scheduled guided tours of Hillwood’s gardens during the spring and fall seasons. Docents also serve on-station interpreting the gardens and assist with private tours, events, and public programming.

Candidates should have an interest in gardens, landscape design, and Hillwood’s founder, Marjorie Merriweather Post, and have the desire to help visitors understand and enjoy Hillwood’s spectacular outdoor spaces.

Completed applications are due by September 7, 2018. Training will begin in January 2019 and run through May 2019.

I didn't know what a garden docent was, so I wanted to read your post and find out.  I hope you are having a wonderful day!

Roy, like Brian, had no idea what a garden docent was.  Will you be volunteering?

Roy Kelley,  I would think you would be the most perfect garden docent.  However, I do wonder where you would find time for Facebook Photography Groups, your garden,  Happy Hours, mystery novels, ActiveRain, enjoying Chef Dolores' menus, friendships, travel, the Kentlands, Gaithersburg,  etc., etc., etc.....oh,............and Snap Dog?!!?  :))  Love the flower arrangements.
