Poppy Flowered Anemone, Anemone coronaria, 'PAS 1851'
The opportunity to photograph the beautiful Poppy Flowered Anemones is another good reason to visit Longwood Gardens in Kennett Square, PA, one of our favorite travel destinations.
The blue poppy anemone (Anemone coronaria) is used for border plantings and in cut flower arrangements. Blue poppy anemones can be grown in your flowergarden, or in containers, such as barrels.
Subhash Sharma "This fresh looking Anemone comes from a genus of about 120 species of flowering plants in the family Ranunculaceae, native to the temperate zones. It is closely related to Pulsatilla ('Pasque flower') and Hepatica; some botanists include both of these genera within Anemone. It's name og Greek origin comes from anemone meaning "daughter of the wind", from ánemosthe wind god "wind" + feminine patronymic suffix -one. The Metamorphoses of Ovid tells that the plant was created by the goddess Venus when she sprinkled nectar on the blood of her dead lover Adonis. The name "windflower" is used for the whole genus as well as the wood anemone A.nemorosa."
Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend who lives in Ireland. He frequently comments on my photographs as I post them on Facebook.

What a gorgeous shot, and I have not seen a blue anemone. And I hope to visit Longwood one of these days. A
I can always count on you for beautiful flowers and flowers that I have never seen or heard about before.
Roy, sure wish I had this beautiful flower in my garden. Have no blue flowers.
Seriously, I envy anyone who can grow flowers like this. Our desert is too extreme for it.
Your feedback is always welcome and is very much appreciated.
