Maryland Blogger: Free E-ZPass Transponders for Maryland Residents

Free E-ZPass Transponders for Maryland Residents

Free E-ZPass Transponders for Maryland Residents

If you live in Maryland or travel in Maryland, your vehicle needs to have an E-ZPass transponder for the toll roads. Governor Larry Hogan announced that all new E-ZPass Maryland customers will not have to pay the $7.50 transponder fee, which is estimated to save Marylanders $46 million over the next five years. The decision follows a 2015 announcement when Hogan said there would be major toll rollbacks.

The free transponders themselves will save $6 million, while the discounts that transponder users get will account for the remaining $40 million in estimated savings.

Warm Up the Grill After a Trip to The Main Street Farmers & Artists Market
It's grilling time at The Main Street Farmers and Artists  Market! Everyone is getting their aprons on and their barbecue spatulas out. The market is filled with tons of great options for your barbecue: sausages from Stone Feather Farm, whole portobello mushroomss from Homestead Farm, veggie packets made with fresh vegetables from Pheasant Hill Farm, all seasoned with herbs from Tuckey's Fruit and Vegetable Farm.   If you don't feel like cooking, pick up some BBQ from Seneca Smokehouse and take home a ready-cooked meal.  There is no limit to what one can find when roaming the market in search of grilling options.   The Main Street Farmers and Artists Market is open on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. under the Main Street Pavilion.

Sounds like a good opportunity for Maryland residents who use the tool roads. Will they make up the loss of state income other ways?  I hear Maryland is a high tax state.

Roy,

We have one toll road in So Cal that I have been on.  It used to be you could $5 to the toll take and that was that.  Now they take a picture of your license plate if you are not a resident and have a pass.  Then they send you a ticket, and you send a check...But it is not a violation ticket, just becomes that if you don't pay.  It crazy  A

We have lots of toll roads in Maryland, Virginia and nearby states. Some do not have toll booths. E-ZPass is needed for the lowest fares. Cameras do photograph the license plates and bills are sent to travelers.

Good morning Roy.  We use the E-Zpass system in Florida.  I wonder if it's the same.  Maybe I should go to MD and get a free transponder.

Good morning Roy - major toll rollbacks would be good.  It costs a fortune on EZ Pass to go from New York through Virginia.
