Seeking a real estate niche? Focus on single women

Recent Census data indicates that single women are buying homes and condos at more than twice the rate of single men. Click on the following link to read an article by Kenneth R. Harney, The Nation's Housing, in The Washington Post.

Single women accounted for 18 percent of all home purchases last year compared with just 7 percent by single men.  This makes single women the second-largest segment in the home-purchase marketplace, behind married couples.

Single women account for more real estate purchases than single men

Bingo, there is an agent here who did that about five years ago, ahead of the curve - and she has done very well. It's an excellent niche - and will likely continue to grow. D

Roy,

Great niche idea and I think you are correct, women seem to want to nest more than men.

Roy,

What a great idea...I am sure someone will do that as Debb Janes EcoBroker and Bernie Stea JD mentioned.  However, given the current climate, it would be best if a women took up the niche.  A

Good morning Roy.  I focused on single women for most of my life.  It stopped right after I got married.

I have sold many single women and so proud that they are able to do it on their own.

I happen to know two single women in my family that recently purchased 4 bedroom, pool homes.  One of the homes is an approximately 2 acre lot and the beautiful pool has a large attached cabana and large tool shed.  The home is amazing and lots of personality and the lake is across the street.  At the time of the closing, I did think this woman had taken a big step.
