Maryland Blogger: Suggestion for an ActiveRain Challenge

Suggestion for an ActiveRain Challenge

Suggestion for an ActiveRain Challenge

ActiveRain Ambassador Debe Maxwell has challenged blogger members to submit their best ideas for an ActiveRain challenge or contest. My suggested challenge could be used at any time of the year and would help members develop a positive daily habit.

Topic Idea: Daily reblogs.

The Challenge: Post 30 reblogs during the month on a minimum of 20 different days. My normal practice is to schedule reblogs in advance. The scheduling feature does work.

Topic Summary: Reblogs provide an easy way to pay it forward and to share well written or interesting blog posts of others. The blogger receives points for a daily reblog and the original blogger also receives points as well as additional exposure for the content. The top three members on the Leaderboard post daily reblogs but the majority of member bloggers have not yet developed this habit. An additional benefit is that members also receive points for comments on the reblogs. If desired, reblogs can be posted for 'Members Only' when you do not want the public to see the reblog content.

Learning Opportunity: Participants will learn how to reblog and the activity will encourage members to seek daily reblog opportunities. And, learning how to use the scheduling feature is an additional benefit. Most of my blogs are scheduled in advance.

Points Reward: I suggest a reward of 3,000 points for members who complete this challenge.

I love this challenge idea, Roy! You know I'm not good about re-blogging and could certainly use the challenge to get into the habit.

And, you're right, the scheduling feature DOES work - I think people just get confused with the PST time and think that the posts are not posting when they set the time to post. Anyway, glad you mentioned that too!

Best of luck with your entry - it's a good one!

Hello Roy I am getting better at rebloggin others as long as I ask first if I can.

You do not need to ask for permission for a reblog. The original blogger has the option to allow or not allow reblogs.

You are really great at this habit, Roy. I could do a lot better - therefore, this is a wonderful challenge.  Hope it comes to be...

I like your idea for a challenge, Roy.  A positive daily habit can take on many facets, depending on the person.

Roy- I love this idea, and have to admit that I don't do as many reblogs as I used to. Now that the scheduling feature works well, I'm going to get back into it. And hope this becomes a challenge!

Interesting idea, Roy.  This could make for quite a few entries, I believe.

Hi Roy

You and several others are really good at reblogging, and many could learn from your examples, and from this challenge, too.

I think a companion pice to this is to find 30 of your older blogs and do a rewrite on them and make them fresh again.

You know I think reblogging is a good idea, mostly.

I like to reblog but have to be careful to make sure the content is the writer's content. I reblogged one members post and she didn't have permission to share the photos and was asked to take it down. Another member I reblogged said I was not authorized to post (reblog) which I was but was asked anyway to immediately remove it as it was diminishing her rankings and she was being penalized by the duplicate content. Now I am very careful and only reblog a few writers that I totally trust. I don't need all that drama and hassle.

Kathy, I am glad you have included this ost in your summary. I reblog from time to time, but I should probably do it more often. Lots of interesting angles of looking at buying and selling, home improvement etc, on the platform.

Seems I've gotten complacent on both blogging and reblogging Roy! This could stir up the pot and may be the impetus I'm looking for. Here via Kathy Streib
