George Washington's Distillery

Recently, I recommended visits to Mount Vernon, the estate of George Washington and I provided information on George Washington's River Farm in Alexandria, Virginia.

You may not know that George Washington was a major producer of whiskey. Visitors can tour the Distillery and Gristmill, located 2.7 miles from the Mansion and Gardens, from April through October to see how Washington produced his whiskey.

Product tastings are not available at the distillery but you can visit the bar at the Mount Vernon Inn for a selection the current offerings.

Click here to visit the website and plan your visit.

Roy, nice to hear you both are getting out and seeing some great sites, and did not know they produced whiskey.

Shock, I missed this when I was at the mansion years ago.  Well next time around I guess.
