Maryland Blogger: Gaithersburg's 140th Birthday Party

Gaithersburg's 140th Birthday Party

Gaithersburg's 140th Birthday Party

This is a City of Gaithersburg, Maryland announcement.

Gaithersburg officially became a town 140 years ago. Now we are one of the largest cities in Maryland and one of the most diverse in the entire country. We've got a lot to celebrate! Six facilities are taking part in a citywide party on Thursday, April 5, 2018. You'll be able to party hop from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., enjoying themed activities, games, party favors, music, gift basket raffles, and other fun treats. We'll be all decorated up, and there'll even be free birthday cake! The schedules and activities vary by facility. Click here for complete details.

Much has changed in the area since Gaithersburg became a town on April 5, 1878. Kentlands residents will celebrate in one of the oldest buildings in our community, the Kentlands Mansion at 320 Kent Square Road. The party will be from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on April 5th and the cake cutting will take place at 4:30 p.m.

Happy birthday to Gaithersburg, Roy. Charlotte will be celebrating its 250th birthday on November 7th and I'll be posting about that, as well, as the time gets closer.

That's going to be quite the birthday bash for Gaithersburg. Will you two be sampling the free cake? :)

Good morning Roy - happy birthday to Gaitherburg.  I think that makes it a young city in Maryland.

You can help folks stay informed during an emergency. During difficult weather or emergencies, check on your neighbors, especially those who may need assistance. All it takes is a phone call, text message, or a knock on the door to make sure neighbors are doing okay
