Revised Peak Bloom Dates for DC Cherry Blossoms
Due to colder-than-normal weather during March, the National Park Service has pushed back its peak bloom date for cherry blossom season in Washington, DC.
NPS announced that because of colder than average temperatures -- with February actually being warmer than March -- the blossoms are going to be slow to bloom this year. As a result, they are now projecting peak bloom sometime between April 8-12, 2018. The peak bloom date is defined as the day when 70 percent of the Yoshino Cherry blossoms are open.
