Hibiscus plants have become more popular in Kentlands, our home community within the City of Gaithersburg, Maryland during recent years. I think the reason is simply that the plants are now widely available for purchase in local garden centers. These flowers are available in many colors and red is one of my favorites. Many home owners are placing these plants in decorative pots.

Subhash Sharma  "This fiery red hibiscus symbolizes passion, courage, action, spontaneity. Its red colour also means love, passion, power, anger, danger, heat, and warning. The colour fits, the flow of friendship, beauty, inspiration, selfless acts of love. These fiery red hibiscus flowers symbolize passion, courage, action, spontaneity. Their red colour also means love, passion and power."

Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend from India. He now lives in Dublin, Ireland and frequently comments on my photographs as I post them on Facebook.

So beautiful Roy!  I would love to have one one my deck. I wonder if it would live though winter inside by a south window?

I wanted to buy a hibiscus but didn't find a yellow one so saw that as a sign to not purchase one. I agree the red ones are pretty.

In Oklahoma City we see a lot of hybrids with the rose of sharon. I like both.
