Maryland Blogger: Air Quality Alert for the Baltimore and Washington, DC Area

Air Quality Alert for the Baltimore and Washington, DC Area

Air Quality Alert for the Baltimore and Washington, DC Area

Ozone levels on Thursday could be harmful to the elderly, kids and people with lung disease, state officials warn.

Authorities have issued an air quality alert for the Baltimore and Washington, D.C., metro areas on Thursday, warning that ozone levels will be high. The orange-level alert from the Maryland Department of the Environment says “a very dirty air mass is in place. On top of that, unseasonably warm temperatures and light winds will allow ozone concentrations to rise.”

Counties included in the alert are: Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, Harford, Howard, Montgomery and Prince George's, along with Washington, D.C., says the National Weather Service. - Gaithersburg Patch

Hi Roy Kelley - hopes this alert ends quickly!  I know all to well (coming form SoCal) how unhealthful poor air quality can be.

Roy, did not know the DC area had times where the air quality was not good.  Great localism post for those with breathing problems.

Roy,

Amazing how this problem has not been solved.  Luckily, we are in an area where air quality remains steady and good.  A

This doesn't sound good at all, I hope that everyone will stay safe and that companies will be required to keep the air clean and not pollute it as they do.

We have a very hot day in Maryland and the air quality is bad. My wife is on the golf course with a large water bottle.

Roy, had no idea you had air quality problems there but a lot wouldn't think AZ would either and we do.  They alert us of those days with the signage on the freeway beside media.  Sure hope it gets better for you there especially with a Holiday weekend!

Nice of you to give a localism Ozone Air Quality Alert, Roy.  Amazing how busy we are in our lives that we even forget this.  Wishing you and Dolores a nice Memorial Day holiday, Roy Kelley.
