Maryland Blogger: Azaleas at the United States National Arboretum

Azaleas at the United States National Arboretum

Azaleas at the United States National Arboretum

It is a good time for a visit to see the Azalea Collections at the United States National Arboretum in Washington, DC.  The collections cover 40 acres of forested hillside.  The Arboretum staff planted over 15,000 azaleas on the south side of Mount Hamilton in 1946 and 1947.

Pack a lunch and plan to spend many hours at the U.S. National Arboretum.  There is much to see and over 400 acres to cover by automobile and hiking trails. Click on the link to visit the website.

The address is 3501 New York Avenue NE, Washington, DC. Admission is free.

Good morning Roy. May not get there to view the Azaleas in person. For now, will have to settle for your excellent photography! Enjoy your day!

Ours started blooming last week. They are so pretty. Too bad they don't last all season.

Roy,

What a beautiful flower!  You have delighted us with a variety of azalea types, including those with small flowers that you see in bonsais.  Happy Monday!  A
