How and When to License Your Dog or Cat in Gaithersburg

Is your puppy or kitten older than 4 months? If so, it's time to get them vaccinated and licensed. The City of Gaithersburg requires a current rabies vaccination and an annual pet license for all dogs and cats over the age of 4 months.

The annual licensing fee of $35 is reduced to $10 with proof of spaying or neutering. Reduced fees are available to qualifying individuals. Application forms are available here

This is a City of Gaithersburg announcement.

Good Saturday morning Dolores and Roy.  Being a pet owner brings responsibilities.  In our area Vets report anyone who has not kept their pet shots updated.  Then a hefty fine is found in your mail.  Dixie is due for a booster shot in April.

Roy Kelley All the more reason to live pout West. We don't license cats. they atr considered "wild animals" and are allowed to roam free. That what a cat does.

Good morning Roy. A great local post. Licensing is important on so many levels. If a pet is lost and licensed it is more likely to get back home.

I pay the reduced fee in my town, because Lucky is neutered. You post reminds me that I need to get his new tag.

Roy,

Great information.  Thankfully, we don't have to license cats.  They attempted to do that when we were in Los Angeles...the public went beserk, and those who were looking for more ways to extrude money out of taxpayers went home with their proverbial tails between their legs.  LOL A
