Facebook Group: Daylily Pictures

Facebook groups provide a means to share your personal or business interests. The groups are free and you can join as many as you wish or create your own Facebook groups. For example, if you enjoy daylilies, you may wish to join the Daylily Pictures group which has over 1,600 members.

Subhash Sharma  This is a very nice looking day lily which is not only fresh but has lovely mixture of two colours. These lilies are aptly named due to the fact that their flowers open at sunrise and wither at sunset. Day lilies are popular worldwide, with over 60,000 different varieties Some species of the day lily are edible and are eaten in dishes in China including soup and stir-fry dishes. Some authorities claim that day lilies have medicinal properties. The day lily has many names in China. When it has a cheerful position, the flower is called "Wong Yu," meaning "Forgetting Worries." As an omen for expectant mothers who wish for baby boys, the flower is called "I Nan," meaning "Suited for A Boy." Since the flower is worn by many mothers, the Chinese also venerate the day lily as a symbol of filial devotion to one's mother.

Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend from India. He now lives in Ireland and frequently comments on my photographs as I post them on Facebook.

Roy: There is both power and like-mindedness in Facebook Groups. Whether we join for biz or pleasure, they are an excellent resource.

You would enjoy visiting the daylily farm in Amador, a scenic area in the Sierra foothills less than 3 hours away from San Francisco.

Very nice!  I am a member of a few groups and they are all beneficial, whether it be information or nice pictures and such.  I am not too active, so I don't join all of the groups that I get invited to join.

Well, well, aren't YOU the Day Lily Guru! I loved reading about the nuances of what the day lily represents in other cultures, other worlds. I am sure I have one of my day lily photos, but maybe not in the right size. Darn.

We have a chilly Monday morning in Maryland. We have not yet had the hard frost that will end the season for our still blooming dahlias.

Have an outstanding week.
