Kentlands Photowalk: Honeysuckle IMG 4573

Our home community is Kentlands, a very walkable neighborhood within the City of Gaithersburg, in the heart of Montgomery County, Maryland. Kentlands is a favorite area for families relocated to the Metro Area of Washington, DC.

The aroma of honeysuckle is very pleasant during my early morning photowalks. When you look closely, you can take some interesting photographs.

Subhash Sharma These nice looking Honeysuckles which are native to the Northern Hemisphere come from a family of approximately 180 species of which about 100 are found in China, 20 in India and 20 in North America and the rest in New Zealand and some other countries. There are several different colour flowers in this family of plants and many also produce mildly poisonous berries. The flowers which produce a sweet, edible nectar are a great attraction for the Hummingbirds.

Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend from India. He now lives in Ireland and frequently comments on my photographs.

We had Honeysuckles growing on a fence when I was a kid.  I miss the sweet smell, and the taste.  I don't miss the bees though!

Good morning, Roy -- your neighborhood photowalks give us such an insight into your area while providing beautiful photos.   There is so much each of us can discover in our own areas if we just take the extra moments to truly explore.

Roy, I love the honeysuckle and lilac bushes in and around our neighborhood!  They give off such great scents!

Thank you for the heads up, I got it fixed. Looks like you found some more beauty in your walk. It is heating up again here with another week in the 90's.  Good for early morning walks when it is still cool.

The humminbird's long bill must have been built with these blooms in mind. Another beautiful photo!

Roy,

We had honeysuckle in the garden when I was growing up.  I always look forward to their blooming, and to this day it brings me back to that moment.  A
