Kentlands Photowalk: Dahlia IMG 4323

This dahlia was photographed in the planter in front of our home in the Kentlands community in Gaithersburg, Maryland 20878. Dahlias are easy to grow in our area and we enjoy blooms until the first frost. If you want the best blooms at the lowest cost, plant the tubers rather than purchasing the plants.

Subhash Sharma This lovely Dahlia is a spicy flower and its significance ranges from a sign of warning, to change, to travel, to even a portent of betrayal. The varied symbolic meanings of the dahlia makes this flower a wild card. Give to that unique, eclectic person whom you wish to compliment his/her wild side. Combine them with slender flowers like irises or tulips for a striking visual display as well as a combined symbolic message that says "temper your adventures with a kind heart." The dahlia (genus Dahlia) is the national flower of Mexico known for its continuous, colourful flowers that bloom throughout the growing season. The dahlia comes in variety of colours, shapes and sizes, making it a favourite flower among landscapers and florists alike. The beauty of the dahlia flower inspired great symbolic meaning during the Victorian era and continues to be used today to express personal sentiments.

Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend. He is from India and lives in Ireland and frequently comments on my photographs.

Good Morning Roy. Very interesting information about Dahlia. I wish someone will give me this flower or I buy it myself as it triggered my interest.

I really used to love growing dahlias but alas, they won't grow in the Florida heat.
