Maryland Nutty Plum Crumble Recipe - Roy and Dolores Kelley Photographs
Recipe tested and recommended by Dolores Kelley
12 ripe plums
2-3 thick strips of peel and the freshly squeezed juice from 1 orange
1/3 cup soft brown sugar
1 stick unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
¾ cup self-rising flour
1/3 cup ground almonds (almond flour)
3 Tbsp. slivered almonds
3 Tbsp. pine nuts
Chilled cream, to serve
Use a medium ovenproof dish
Serves 4
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees..
Halve and pit the plums and arrange them in a single layer in a baking dish. Add the orange peel and juice. Sprinkle over 2 Tbsp. of the sugar and dot over 2 Tbsp. of the butter. Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, until the plums are beginning to soften.
Put the flour, ground almonds, and the remaining butter in a bowl and rub it between your fingertips, until it forms lumps. Stir in the flaked almonds, pine nuts, and the remaining sugar.
Remove the baking dish from the oven, discard the foil and scatter over the crumble topping. Return to the oven and bake for about 30 minutes, until the topping is golden and the juices are bubbling through. Let sit for 10 minutes to allow the crust to firm up. Serve with ice cream.

Roy: This looks easy to make. With my husband's sweet tooth, this wouldn't last long in our house.
Roy, Larry And I both have a sweet tooth so this would disappear pretty quickly at our house!
Roy, the Nutty Plum Crumble Recipe looks great. Thanks for sharing today.
Good morning Roy. I've never had plum pie, well this looks more like a cobbler, before. The Nutty Plum Crumble recipe sounds like it would be DELICIOUS.
Roy, as I write my mouth is watering for a taste! And, the serve with ice cream put it over the top. Need to go to the kitchen. Enjoy your day!
Good morning to all. I hope you will try this recipe.

Hi Roy, This sounds delicious. OK, now I am hungry. Wonder if Will can whip this up at his house?
Roy, That Maryland Nutty Plum Crumble Recipe sounds very yummy and tempting. Likely not on my diet but If were gonna cheat this would be a great place to start.
Roy, you're making my mouth water! Literally! I have to swallow, hold on...okay, I'm back. Beautiful--and I loved how you matched the color and texture of the flowers with the dish. You are a master--both you and Dolores!
Roy - You know I love food and cooking, and this recipe looks like a wonderful treat to me. I also like the particular dish Dorores used to bake it in.
Thanks for your comments. This is a very good recipe and I hope you will try it, even if you are on a diet.
Thanks, Gayle, for sharing your beautiful photograph. I would love to visit Fishhawk Lake, with my camera in hand.
