One of the nice things about living in the Kentlands area of Montgomery County, Maryland is that we can make day trips to several nearby states.  Among the following photographs, some were taken on a day trip to the Skyline Drive in the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia.  Can you tell which pictures are from higher elevations in the park?

Please share your photographs in the comments for this post.

Not smart enough to know the higher elevation flowers from the lower ones. Just know they are pretty flowers. Enjoy your day!

There is something that quacks me up about your pictures!

Lots of Lilies in your area.

Roy, I have always loved your flower photographs....but you ducks are my absolute favorite.  I hope you don't mind but I've been using one of your duck photographs as a screen saver for months.  It is the one where three ducks are walking in a line one direction and one duck is walking the opposite direction.  That is one of my all time favorite photographs.  I guess I identify with the one going the opposite direction.

Have a great day!

Thanks so much for your positive feedback.

Wayne:  The third flower picture and the last three flower pictures were taken on the Skyline Drive.

Sondra:  You and other ActiveRain members are welcome to use my flower photographs for personal use or in ActiveRain blog posts if I am given photo credit. Some of the flowers make very nice screen savers.

Roy,

I think the last photo is a Thistle, correct?  If so, I've never seen once presented in such a lovely manner.

And, I'm with Judi #9 - fond of the little duck with a touch of blue. :)

Roy, beautiful flowers.  Did these all grow in the national parks near you?  I can't tell which ones grow at higher elevations but the duck is priceless.

Good afternoon to all.  Thanks for your comments. The coloring of the duck is standard for a female mallard. This one was quacking to the other nearby mallards.
