Extraordinary Gaithersburg: Jim Clifford

Extraordinary Gaithersburg: Jim Clifford

Local attorney Jim Clifford was recognized at the October 19 Mayor and City Council meeting for achieving the Triple Crown of Open Water Swimming. He swam from the coast of California to Catalina Island, circumnavigated the island of Manhattan, and crossed the English Channel. He is the oldest person on record to have done so. Jim was the recipient of the City's 2009 Distinguished Friend of Gaithersburg Award, when he was honored for support of economic development initiatives in Gaithersburg, especially the revitalization of Olde Towne, and for his involvement with the Boy Scouts and the Montgomery County Agricultural Fair.

We know there are many people doing extraordinary things in our community each and every day. Let us know about them by e-mailing cityhall@gaithersburgmd.gov. Use "Extraordinary Gaithersburg" in the subject line.

This is a City of Gaithersburg announcement.
