Facebook Group: A Flower A Day

There are many Facebook groups and you may need to do some searching to discover the groups that share your personal or professional interests. You, of course, can create your own groups for your home community or activities of interest. The photograph in this blog was posted in over 40 Facebook groups including A Flower A Day which has about 3,200 members.

Subhash Sharma  This unique lovely flower of multiple blooms has colours of blue, red, pink, light purple, or dark purple depending upon the soil pH. An acidic soil (pH below 7) will usually produce flower colour closer to blue, whereas an alkaline soil (pH above 7) will produce flowers more pink. This is caused by a colour change of the flower pigments in the presence of aluminium ions which can be taken up into hyperaccumulating plants. Apart from these different colour flowers the plant has various other qualities. Amacha (sweet tea) is a Japanese beverage made from fermented leaves of Hydrangea macrophylla . Hydrangeae Dulcis Folium is a drug made from the fermented and dried leaves of H. macrophylla var. thunbergii with possible anti-allergic and antimicrobial properties on which the work is still going on.

Mr. Sharma is a Facebook friend from India. He now lives in Ireland and frequently comments on my photographs as I post them on Facebook.
