ActiveRain Practices: Re-blogs

ActiveRain Practices: Re-blogs

Even though re-blogs are encouraged, only a small percentage of ActiveRain members regularly post re-blogs. I like to schedule re-blogs in advance because that provides a better opportunity for deliberate selections of blogs to share.

My personal practice is to schedule re-blogs for at least a month in advance. My scheduled re-blogs are posted at 5 a.m. every day (remember to adjust the time since ActiveRain is on Pacific time). When I decide to schedule more than the one re-blog, I post it at the same time and they will appear before my own first blog is posted.

You receive 25 points when you post a re-blog and the author of the blog also receives 25 points. These points are based on a one per day limit for the re-blogger and the original author. These re-blogs are considered to be your blog posts and you also receive points for the comments you receive. If you re-blog popular posts, you may receive more comments on them than on some of your own blogs based on my personal experience.

Some of the benefits of re-blogs are that you are able to share well written blogs and also pay if forward by giving the authors some extra exposure and some added points. If you are interested in building your own ActiveRain points total, re-blogging is an effective strategy.

By the way, if you do not wish to have public exposure for re-blogs, all you have to do is to make them members only posts.
